Why involve an external mediator ?

When can mediation help ?

When conflict takes hold, it can become difficult to continue working together. Mediation can be considered when dialogue has become strained and usual ways of resolving the situation are no longer sufficient. It can also be used preventively, before conflict becomes entrenched or has a greater impact on the organisation.

I particularly work with situations involving:

  • conflicts between employees

  • tensions between a manager and a team member

  • conflicts between managers

  • difficulties within a team

  • interpersonal difficulties following a reorganisation or a change in management

When conflict takes hold, it can become difficult to continue working together. A disagreement between colleagues, a deteriorating relationship between a manager and an employee, tensions within a team or between departments can gradually affect work, cooperation and the overall balance of the organisation.

Workplace mediation

When a conflict becomes entrenched, it can sometimes be difficult for those involved or for HR teams to find a way forward on their own.

The perspective of an external third party creates a different space, where everyone can express their point of view, hear the other person’s perspective and gain a clearer understanding of the underlying issues at stake in the conflict.

Mediation can be initiated at the request of:

  • Senior Management

  • HR Management

  • an HR Manager

  • a Manager

  • a trade union

  • an occupational health service

  • an employee

  • SMEs and companies

  • Health and social care organisations

  • Non-profit organisations

  • ...

An approach adapted to different types of organisations

Mediation aims, in particular, to:

  • restore dialogue that has become difficult

  • enable everyone to express their needs and concerns

  • develop a shared understanding of the situation

  • move beyond power struggles and misunderstandings

  • explore solutions that are acceptable to all parties

  • where possible, enable a more constructive and harmonious working relationship to continue

Exploring solutions

Working together to find practical solutions.

When the parties reach an agreement, it can be formalised in accordance with the terms they have agreed upon.

An initial meeting helps to understand the situation, its context, and the steps that have already been taken.

Lorsque la médiation est engagée, je rencontre individuellement les personnes concernées.

Ces échanges permettent à chacun de présenter sa perception de la situation, ses difficultés et ses attentes, dans un cadre confidentiel.

The participants are then brought together in a safe and structured space for dialogue.

My role is to facilitate communication, ensure an impartial framework and create the conditions for everyone to be heard.

Fees

Mediation fees are determined based on the number of participants and the format of the mediation. A proposal outlining the terms of the intervention and the applicable fees is provided in advance.

As a general indication, a mediation involving two participants may typically include an individual meeting with each participant, followed by one or more joint sessions.
